In most jurisdictions in Alberta, a pre-trial conference (‘PTC’)is required when the anticipated trial time based on Crown Prosecutors estimate exceeds one (1) day. This is a meeting between your lawyer, the Crown Prosecutor and a Judge or Justice (depending on the nature of your charges) in Chamber. If you represent yourself, the PTC will be conducted in open Court.
